Java Persistence comments

  • We must improve it to compete with other products.
  • If a jdbc connection is created in the application. It is impossible to remove.
  • But there is no enough tutorial to explain it
  • Update to the latest v2 Version of the JPA which implements more features.
  • Excellent. I cannot live without this feature. But it would be nice, if the IDE provides default support for Hibernate also, atleast through the update center. You just cannot ignore Hibernate.
  • There is syntax error in generating classes from DB [relationship class of many-to-many]
  • I used Postgre SQL, TopLink and Tomcat comes with IDE, getEntityManager() function returns null because of somethink in TopLink.
  • I am starting to use persistence and from what I see everything is in excellent shape.
  • Waiting a better integration in Matisse.
  • I did only test simple cases (1 class - 1 table) in Oracle 8i. These worked fine. I noticed it is not possible to set the password in the persistence.xml through the GUI. The UI generated by JSF from Entity Class is too limited (no search capability) compated to what is generated by similar Oracle tools.
  • EJB3 entity refactoring from persistance doesn't work if you have inherited tables (Person<---Customer)
  • Entity bean generation for Hibernate for 1:1 releations has to be updated manually. Hibernate Tools generate same mapping correctly.
  • Would be nice to have an EJB QL interface like the sql interface for testing ql queries in JPA.
