NetBeans IDE 5.5 Community Acceptance Testing program (NetCAT)
 |
Introduction
Welcome to the latest NetCAT - NetBeans community testing
initiative. Although this rendering has the same goals
as previous NetCAT programs, it is different in two ways. First, we are
interested in J2EE developers since NetBeans 5.5 focuses on Java EE 5 support
or Subversion users because Subversion support was recently made available via Auto Update Center.
Secondly, we will not limit the number of participants in NetCAT 5.5. It is
as well important to stress that the NetCAT program is about quality
acceptance and not about feature design.
|
Organization
The NetCAT 5.5 program has a more open nature than its predecessors. Anyone
with Enterprise Java or Subversion experience is welcome. We kindly ask all potential volunteers to read
the
responsibilities of NetCAT 5.5 participants before
joining the program in order to understand and adhere to
NetCAT
etiquette rules. Unfortunately, due to the program's unlimited access we will not track
each person's activity separately.
As usual members of the NetCAT program will enjoy many special privileges.
They will have an opportunity to nominate bugs which they and their colleagues consider critical
to the success of NetBeans IDE. Members who submit bugs during this program will have their bugs marked
with a prefix that guarantees special attention from developers and quality engineers. Additionally,
they can request new features for future releases. And yes, there are some gifts ready for the
50 most helpful members, of course. The most important thing is that we want our community to
accept the release. Your views and opinions are important to us!
What tools are in place ?
There are several means of access prepared especially for this program.
