Options comments

  • Some panes are better but the tree view was more logical once you consider all of the options it allows you to edit. I'd have rather seen incremental improvement/cleanup of the "Advanced" view rather than a new view.
  • The fact that it seems to be slow according to some reports (verified by me too) and, of course, issue #70742, leads to the idea that it's unfinished
  • All options in advanced pane should be made available to new options window.
  • There should be a hard and fast rule that determines what goes on the "basic" view.
  • Line number option needs to be added to the editor options.
  • I really like it. For quick settings it's great. I also appreciate holding onto the old settings manager as an advanced option.
  • Please don't lose the "Advanced Options" menu, power users love it.
  • It would be nice to have a panel where I can change the startup parameters for NetBeans, that would be saved in the etc/netbeans.conf file. That is something still lacking since the very early versions of NB.
  • Really simplifies and freshens up that area.
  • Very nice, obviously having the advanced options still there is a must as there are things that arent available in simple view. However, the simple view is great for changing those things that are there.
  • Really "klunky". I wish more time would have been devoted to other NB features.
  • Don't really care, not a great leap forward for mankind
  • I like both the new Options window and the advanced options view.
  • I like it.
  • It is a good compromise for simple actions. Please don't remove the advanced options. The Mozilla to Firefox transition is a good example of over-simplifying an options dialog and not providing an expert mode.
  • The new Options windows could be a success if a lot of options were present there. We are now obliged to switch to Advanced when necessary. But it was said you will work on that to solve the problem.
  • I like it alot. I think modules need a way to register options which are currently set on the command line only. If they could register descriptive human readable/understandable information, the switch/property name, valid values, and a user level netbeans.conf file then the IDE could manage the switches the user would like to use on IDE/Platform startup from the options screen. That would make it even better.
