Frequently Asked Questions (FAQs)
How can I participate in this program ?
We are very sorry but we had to stop accepting more applications
for participation in NetCAT 5.0 program because of overwhelming response to our
announcement sent on Wednesday, September 7. During the following 24 hours we have
received 500+ valid applications which is 3 times more than what we originally hoped
for.
Nevertheless, we will still appreciate your feedback provided via either
nbusers@netbeans.org mailing list or
Issuezilla, our bug
tracking system.
Please accept our apologies if you didn't make it to sign up in time.
Thank you for your understanding and willingness to help !
Can you describe my responsibilities if I join the program ?
Once you become an official NetCAT member you may be asked to focus
on certain features, functional areas or platforms in which we would like to receive
feedback. However, it's up to you to choose the features and areas you are interested
in and you want to potentially influence. The most important and valuable aspect of
our program will be the feedback you provide on the Beta and RC builds by utilizing
the simple bug form and mailing list. Besides, your input may be requested via
additional surveys during the program. Last, but not least, at the end of the program
you will be expected to submit a Final Community Acceptance survey where you
should express your point of view as to whether main new features are ready for release.
Are there any benefits for me ?
Yes. Your voice will be treated with care. You will get a chance to
influence fixing of bugs that bother you, object against waiving other annoying bugs
or access to CA phase survey. This is where you can describe your satisfaction with
newly added features. If at least 20% of whole NetCAT team identify a particular bug
within the final CA Survey, the bug must be fixed before FCS.
Last but not least, those active participants (totalling 30 NetCAT
points or higher) will receive a gift from us! The three most active program members
will win a purchase in our
NetBeans shop.
How can one earn a NetCAT point ?
Input of each participant will be evaluated at the end of the program
based upon the various feedback types.

You most probably don't have "Observer" www project role. Please visit
this page and request
Observer role. Your request should be granted shortly but please be patient. However,
this does not mean you will be allowed to post messages to the list. Only
NetCAT team
members are allowed to communicate via this list.
What is useful bug report against Form editor ?
In case you spot an exception, malfunction or inconsistency in new GUI editor please follow these advices when reporting bug:
Include form file in the last good state before the problem - you can get to that state by doing Undo and saving the form
Include corresponding java file
Include screenshot(s), ideally taken before the problem occured and after that
Very exact steps how to reproduce the problem - everything is important for us (how you placed component, where it snapped to, order in which components were created etc.)

Don't hesitate to ask your NetCAT program coordinator
Jiri Kovalsky !
