Frequently Asked Questions (FAQs)

How can I participate in this program ?

We apologize however the team has already been selected. The applications were accepted between February 14, 2005 and February 21, 2005.

Can you describe my responsibilities if I join the program ?

Once you become an official NetCAT member you may be asked to focus on certain features, functional areas or platforms in which we would like to receive feedback. However, it's up to you to choose the features and areas you are interested in and you want to potentially influence. The most important and valuable aspect of our program will be the feedback you provide on the Beta and RC builds by utilizing the simple bug form & mailing list. In addition, your input will be requested via Installation & program surveys during the program posted within the Feedback Portal provided by Sun. Last, but not least, at the end of the program you will be expected to submit a Final Community Acceptance survey where you should express your point of view as to whether the RC is ready for release.

Are there any benefits for me ?

Yes. Your voice will be treated with care. You will get a chance to influence fixing of bugs that bother you, object against waiving other annoying bugs, and access to a variety of feedack mechanisms provided through the Feedback Portal. This is where you can describe your satisfaction with installation, performance or quality. Obvious installation showstoppers or clearly underperforming issues must be fixed for supported platforms. In addition, if at least 30% of participants identify a particular bug within the final CA Survey, the bug must be fixed before FCS.

Last but not least - for those active participants (totalling 30 NetCAT points or higher) you will receive a gift from us! The three most active program members will win a purchase in our NetBeans shop.

How can one earn a NetCAT point ?

Input of each participant will be evaluated at the end of the program based upon the various feedback types.
    Item   # points
     1 message sent 1
     1 bug submitted 2
     1 enhancement submitted 1
     Final CA survey completed 10
     Any other survey completed  5
